Scott’s passion is Communications!

Scott was born and raised in Toronto and cottaged his entire life in the Lake of Bays area before moving to Dorset in 2005.

He received his post-secondary education at Queen’s University in Kingston and graduated with a degree in Economics and Business.

Upon graduation, Scott worked in the copier industry where he set a record in sales and got his first taste of marketing.

After nearly 3 years he moved into the pharmaceutical industry where he spent his entire career with one organization working in Specialist Sales, Medical Conferencing, Customer Research, Marketing as well as Strategic Planning and Communications.

It was during this time that Scott discovered his true ability – to assemble and lead multi-faceted teams to rapidly launch “blockbuster” products into the marketplace.

After leaving the big city, Scott focused his energy on building his cottage, exploring Algonquin Park and taking up triathlon. To date, he has completed the Ironman Muskoka 70.3 race four times and has completed 5 other 1/2 iron distance races.

It was while training for the Muskoka 70.3 events that Scott was referred to Lowell for guidance and direction on sport nutrition. After working with Lowell for several years as a patient, Scott offered to extend his knowledge, experience and education to help build and launch what is now The SportLab.

While not out cycling and raising funds for various charities, Scott continues to be a vital component of the practice by acting as the specialist on all of The SportLab’s communications – both internally and externally.

As Office Manager, some would say, “She runs the show!”

Jess grew up in Orillia and attended Acadia University in Wolfeville, Nova Scotia where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology (2011). While at Acadia, she was awarded for her work in the community as well as for her contributions to the Kinesiology Program.

Last June, she was asked to present her thesis at the North American Society for Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity Conference in Burlington, VT.

Like everyone at The SportLab, Jess always has, and continues to be, active. She has participated in many sports including karate, soccer, rugby, running and in the pool – swimming (bronze cross), synchro and diving.

Jess completed her first triathlon in 2006 and has completed the Terry Fox Run the past four years.

After moving to Huntsville in the Fall of 2011, Jess registered for the Muskoka Ironman 70.3 and when not at The SportLab, can be seen out training as she prepares for the event in September of 2012.

In 2006, she completed the Massage Therapy Program at The International Academy of Massage in Ottawa. Since then, Sarah has been working and living in Muskoka….. and loving everything it has to offer!

Sarah specializes in the use of deep tissue Swedish massage techniques of which the benefits in the management and recovery of soft tissue dysfunction and injury are well documented.

Her athletic interests have varied over the years from synchronized swimming to snowboarding.

Currently, Sarah is again playing soccer (after 6 years off!), has dusted off her hiking boots, and just loves working out in unusual ways including anything from kettlebell work to climbing ropes to sprinting down the road with a sandbag!

Lowell was born in North Bay and raised in Sundridge, Ontario.

After completing high school, Lowell chose a very interesting and unique academic route (over the course of 10 years) to gain the knowledge he required to allow him to do what he does today – operate The SportLab.

Lowell received both his BSc and MSc in Chemistry (incorporating biochemistry and biotechnology) from the University of Waterloo. He then attended the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) in Toronto where he successfully completed the four year Naturopathic Doctor program in 2003.

Then, in 2008, Lowell became the first person in Ontario certified in Sports Nutrition by the International Society of Sports Nutrition.

Today, Lowell continues to retain academic postings at the CCNM as Head of the Sports Medicine Program and Supervisor of the Exercise Science Program. He also lectures at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in their Sport Science Residency Program.

Lowell is enthusiastic and passionate about the important role that physical activity and athletics play in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. By being active and participating widely in athletics his entire life, Lowell has gained a solid knowledge of a broad range of sports.

For 3 years, he was a professional solo ultra mountain biker, sponsored by La-Z-Boy, and competed in 12 & 24 hour events on the North American circuit. He also raced in the first World Solo 24 hour Championships in Canmore, Alberta.

Lowell is an avid runner and completed his first marathon in under 3 hours (LA Marathon – 2012) thereby earning himself a spot in the Boston Marathon.

He also enjoys trail running and has twice completed a 57km run through Algonquin Park.

Lowell is also a member of Team Six Feet Under, an adventure race team based in Huntsville, which has won the Rockstar Adventure Race three times.

To stay fit in the winter months, Lowell mixes up his training with plenty of nordic skiing and puts fun into his training by skijoring with his two dogs – Piper and Roscoe.

All of this leads to an impressive package when it comes to Lowell’s understanding and ability to deliver superior care in the areas of Sport Therapy and Sport Nutrition.

Lowell has a solid academic background and broad understanding of both the physiological and biochemical needs of the body. He is highly knowledgeable in the nutritional needs of athletes through his extensive education. When combined with his own personal athletic experience, athletes from all sports have an invaluable resource available to them – an individual who can deliver the science, and who has the skills to provide them with the best in Sport Therapy and Sport Nutrition.

It is through his studies that Lowell now applies his background in science, medicine, sport, nutrition and rehabilitation at The SportLab.
