Who we are
Lowell Greib MSc ND CISSN
Lowell was born in North Bay and raised in Sundridge, Ontario.
After completing high school, Lowell chose a very interesting and unique academic route (over the course of 10 years) to gain the knowledge he required to allow him to do what he does today – operate The SportLab.
Lowell received both his BSc and MSc in Chemistry (incorporating biochemistry and biotechnology) from the University of Waterloo. He then attended the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) in Toronto where he successfully completed the four year Naturopathic Doctor program in 2003.
Then, in 2008, Lowell became the first person in Ontario certified in Sports Nutrition by the International Society of Sports Nutrition.
Today, Lowell continues to retain academic postings at the CCNM as Head of the Sports Medicine Program and Supervisor of the Exercise Science Program. He also lectures at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in their Sport Science Residency Program.
Lowell is enthusiastic and passionate about the important role that physical activity and athletics play in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. By being active and participating widely in athletics his entire life, Lowell has gained a solid knowledge of a broad range of sports.
For 3 years, he was a professional solo ultra mountain biker, sponsored by La-Z-Boy, and competed in 12 & 24 hour events on the North American circuit. He also raced in the first World Solo 24 hour Championships in Canmore, Alberta.
Lowell is an avid runner and completed his first marathon in under 3 hours (LA Marathon – 2012) thereby earning himself a spot in the Boston Marathon.
He also enjoys trail running and has twice completed a 57km run through Algonquin Park.
Lowell is also a member of Team Six Feet Under, an adventure race team based in Huntsville, which has won the Rockstar Adventure Race three times.
To stay fit in the winter months, Lowell mixes up his training with plenty of nordic skiing and puts fun into his training by skijoring with his two dogs – Piper and Roscoe.
All of this leads to an impressive package when it comes to Lowell’s understanding and ability to deliver superior care in the areas of Sport Therapy and Sport Nutrition.
Lowell has a solid academic background and broad understanding of both the physiological and biochemical needs of the body. He is highly knowledgeable in the nutritional needs of athletes through his extensive education. When combined with his own personal athletic experience, athletes from all sports have an invaluable resource available to them – an individual who can deliver the science, and who has the skills to provide them with the best in Sport Therapy and Sport Nutrition.
It is through his studies that Lowell now applies his background in science, medicine, sport, nutrition and rehabilitation at The SportLab.
